Jim Gibb, age 82, of Stratford passed away peacefully at the Stratford General Hospital on Tuesday, August 4, 2009.
He was born in Stratford, son of the late George and Bessie Gibb. Jim and Muriel farmed all of their life in Downie Township before moving to Stratford in 2002.
Jim was involved in the community with the Stratford Agricultural Society, the Co-op and the Downie Recreational Association for many years.
Jim was the beloved husband for 62 years of Muriel (Feick), as well as the loving father of Allan Gibb (Heather) and Douglas Gibb (Nancy); and grandfather of Emily Gibb, Dan Gibb, Jamie McConachie and Lisa McConachie.
He was also survived by sisters, Marjorie Malcolm, Phyllis Sheldon and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Ron Gibb (Elaine) and Robert Gibb (Twyla); and brothers-in-law Dalton Malcolm and Clayton Sheldon.
Friends and relatives may call at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Thursday, August 6, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. Rev. Terry Hastings will officiate. Interment in Avondale Cemetery.
