JAMES FRANK FRASER

James Frank Fraser, 56, passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont. on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2005.
James is the beloved husband of Evelyn (nee Maki); and father to Wayne of Fort Frances, Ont., and Robert (Trish) of Winnipeg, Man., and grandchildren, Trent, Jade, and Robert Jr. of Winnipeg, Man.
He also will be missed by his father, Alec Smitsnuk, and brother, David (Sandy) Smitsnuk, all of Calgary, Alta.; sisters, Marjorie Broome and Donna Smitsnuk, and brother, Ed, all of Edmonton, Alta.; brothers-in-law, Leonard Maki of International Falls, Mn., Albert and Bradley Maki of Kenora, Ont., and Ronald Maki of Alberta; sisters-in-law, Karen (John) Morrin of Fort Frances, Ont. and Sharon Maki (David Rosenfelt) of Cochenour, Ont.; uncles, Phil Fraser of La Vallee, Ont., Les Fraser of Surrey, B.C., and Fred Fraser of Regina, Sask.; aunt, Frances Barnhart of Winnipeg, Man.,; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son, Michael, on July 30, 2002; mother, Kathleen Smitsnuk; brother, Raymond Smitsnuk; and sister, Diane Smitsnuk.
James was born March 28, 1949 in Emo, Ont. He was united in marriage to Evelyn Maki on Jan. 6, 1978.
In his younger days, James worked at KDS Hardware in Fort Frances and then at the Missinabe mill in eastern Ontario. After returning to Fort Frances, he worked at various businesses in the area.
James enjoyed playing baseball, fishing, going for long walks, and spending time outdoors. He had a great sense of humour and could make just about anyone laugh.
He will be sadly missed by family and many friends.
A visitation will be held Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005 from 7-9 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances.
A funeral service will be held Monday, Oct. 3, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. at Green Funeral Home, with Pastor Sandy McEvoy officiating. Interment will follow in the Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
The pallbearers will be Robin Bruyere, Sulo Maki, Lee Glueheisen, Steve Buttner, Fred Grozelle, and Barry McTavish.
