James Ernest (Bert) O’Donnell was born in Fort Frances, Ont., on Sept. 23, 1923 and unexpectedly passed away on Friday, May 19, 2006.
He was the youngest son of the late Dr. J.E. and Maude O’Donnell.
Bert was predeceased by his brother, Rev. Hugh O’Donnell, S.J.; sisters, Joan McLennan and Rita O’Donnell; nephew, Tony McLennan; and brother-in-law, Judge A.D. McLennan.
He is survived by his nephew, Ian McLennan; niece, Saylor McLennan; cousins, Dick and Lenore O’Donnell of Thunder Bay, Ont., Jake O’Donnell of Winnipeg, Man., and Molly McLennan of Winnipeg, Man.
Bert lived simply and took great pleasure helping others. He was an active member of St. Mary’s parish and regularly volunteered at Rainycrest Home for the Aged.
A funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Fort Frances. In accordance with his wishes, cremation will follow.
Friends wishing to make in memoriam donations are asked to consider making them to either the Riverside Foundation for Health Care or to St. Mary’s parish.
