James Edward (Ed) Penney passed away peacefully, with family by his side, on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013 at the Collingwood Nursing Home at the age of 87.
Dear step-father to Jim Tough (Lee Fielding), Iona (Noni) Tough, Peter Tough, and the late Bonnie Tough.
He is survived by his brothers, Frank (Merle), Bill (Betty), Greg (Donna), and Leo (Bonnie); brother-in-law, John Audette; and sisters, Pat (Butch) Mosley and Marie (Norman) Duhamel.
He was predeceased by mother and father, George and Marguerite Penney; brothers, Philip and Donald; sister, Lucille Audette; and sister-in-law, Luree Penney.
Ed was a quiet, thoughtful, and kind man who enjoyed sharing time with family and friends.
He was an active member of the Canadian Legion, having served in the Canadian Army during World War II, and the Lions Club of Elliot Lake benefited from his energies and generosity.
He retired as shaft inspector at Rio Algom in Elliot Lake and later moved to Goderich, Ont., where he continued his activities in the Legion.
In his later years, Ed moved to Collingwood, Ont. and resided in the Collingwood Nursing Home for the past five years.
Interment will be held Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Stratton, Ont.
