James Shine, 74, of Devlin, Ont., passed away Tuesday, June 15, 1999 at the Emo Hospital in Emo, Ont.
James was born Dec. 15, 1924 in La Vallee, Ont. to the late Alvin and Mary Shine. He lived in the area all of his life, and in his earlier years loved animals, especially pigeons and geese.
James farmed many years, and also logged, and later worked for the municipality. He was a friend to everyone.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Jean and Helen; two brothers, Melvin and Lyle; and one brother-in-law, Arnold Pattison.
James is survived by two sisters, Doris and husband, Tom Darrah, and Violet and husband, Don Doucette, all of Atikokan, Ont.; three brothers, Leonard Shine and wife, Marilyn, of Crozier, Ont., Gerald Shine of Burriss, Ont., and Harvey Shine and wife, Jeannine, of Devlin, Ont.; two sisters-in-law, Lou Shine and Lois Shine; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 18, 1999 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, Ont. Rev. Frances Flook officiated, with interment in Devlin Cemetery in Devlin.
Visitation ws held Thursday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. at Green Funeral home.
Pallbearers were Chris Shine, Larry Shine, Gordon Shine, Danny Shine, Jimmy Pattison, Sandra Doucette, Hugh Darrah, and Bradley Shine.
Honourary pallbearers were Dave Woodgate, Glenn Galusha, Wallace Hughes, Ken Kellar, Ted Allan, and Dave Cooke.
