Jacqueline (O’Connell) Calder Garriock

Jackie, age 67, of Fort Frances, Ont., formerly of Thunder Bay and Terrace Bay, Ont., passed away Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002 at the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital with her family by her side.
Jackie was born May 3, 1935 in Fort Frances to the late Stanley and Corine O’Connell. She was one of three children.
In June, 2002, Jackie received her Grade 12 diploma while her proud family looked on. She also looked forward to playing cards at the Sister Kennedy Centre during the week.
Jackie was united in marriage to Gordon Calder on Aug. 23, 1954 in Fort Frances. Together they had six children. They later parted ways.
On June 30, 1976, she married Bill (Tug) Garriock of Thunder Bay. After 13 years, Jackie lost her husband, Bill, on Aug. 8, 1989 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Her main interests were her children and grandchildren.
Jackie is survived by her four children, Leanne Calder of Thunder Bay, Ont., and Carla and Rosalyn Calder and Pamela Colfer, all of Fort Frances, Ont.
She also is survived by her beloved grandchildren, Treena Burns and fiancé, Darren, Amanda Burns, and Joseph Veltri, all of Thunder Bay, Ont., and Joshua Wreggitt, Shanna Curtis, Garrick Isensee, Marie Anderson, and Johnathan Colfer, all of Fort Frances, Ont.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Jackie was predeceased by her mother, Corine Brooks; father, Stanley O’Connell; husband, Bill Garriock; sons, Kevin James and Vincent Bryan Calder; and one brother, Patrick O’Connell.
Cremation has taken place at Northwest Funeral Alternative in Thunder Bay.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002 at 1 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Fort Frances, with Fr. Rey Ronquillo officiating.
Jackie will be laid to rest at Terrace Bay Cemetery next to her two sons, Vincent (Butchy) and Kevin, at a later date.
