Jacqueline Louise (Jackie) Jourdain, 53, of Couchiching First Nation, Ont., passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
She was born Dec. 13, 1959 in Fort Frances to the late Leonard and Kathleen Jourdain.
In her earlier years, Jackie worked at C.O.P.E. in Fort Frances and for Couchiching First Nation until she was unable to any longer.
For enjoyment, Jackie enjoyed her music and playing guitar. She also had a passion for woodworking, which family and friends fondly remember.
She loved being with her family when ever she could. Jackie also was a spiritual person, and recently had started learning her traditional culture.
Jackie will be missed dearly by her family, friends, and former co-workers.
Jackie leaves behind two sisters, Beverly Shebagegit of Nestor Falls, Ont. and Eileen Jourdain of Couchiching First Nation, Ont.; one brother, Craig (Audrey) Jourdain of Rainy River First Nation, Ont.; one brother-in-law, Jim Walton of Fort Frances, Ont.; and many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Leslie and Donald Jourdain; one sister, Joyce Walton; and one brother-in-law, Joe Shebagegit.
Family and friends may visit Sunday, March 17, 2013 from 5:30-8 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances.
Parish prayers will be offered at 6 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 18, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with Fr. Francis Pudicherry officiating.
Cremation will take place at Rainy River Cremation Services in International Falls, Mn.
The honourary pallbearers will be her nephews, Richard Walton, Joe Shebagegit, Chris Shebagegit, Brian Shebagegit, Lynn Shebagegit, and Aaron Jourdain, and friends Christine Kruger, Susan Koncan, Candace Morrisseau, Betty Ann Mainville, and Jane Elliott.
