Mr. Jackie Wayne Lyons, 62, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002 after a lengthy illness. Wayne was born and raised in Fort Frances, Ont.
He joined the Air Force in 1956 and served in Clinton, Ont., Winnipeg, Man., and Baden-Baden, Germany. He married Astrid Heining in 1961 and had three lovely daughters.
He had a great sense of humour and loved to make people laugh. He also loved playing the guitar and banjo, and had his own band in Germany.
He returned to Thunder Bay, Ont. with his wife and family, and started up a Buns Master Bakery and Japan Camera Store.
He was predeceased by his mother and father, Tim and Rose Lyons; sister, Marie; and brother, Bill.
He is survived by Astrid Vogel; daughters, Sonja Lyons, Tanja Blondin, and Tina Lyons; grandchildren, Mario, Lia, Katja, Alex, Kevin, and Bradley; brothers, Dick and Tim; sisters, Carole and Shirley; and several nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002 at 10 a.m. at Knox United Church in Fort Frances.
Interment in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances to follow.
A tree will be planted in memory of Wayne Lyons in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove. The annual dedication service will be held Sunday, June 29, 2003.
