JACK WIELINGA

July 18, 1949 – November 2, 2025

It is with great love and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jack Wielinga, who left us peacefully on November 2, 2025, at the age of 76.

Jack lived a full and meaningful life marked by faith, kindness, hard work, and devotion to those he loved. He will be remembered for his unwavering support for the Montreal Canadians, resilient spirit, his ability to solve any problem, and his gratitude for life no matter what challenge he faced.

Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Anne, whom he lovingly described as his Rock. They enjoyed 54 years of marriage together and their journey took them from Thunder Bay to Emo, to Alberta and then back to Emo. Anne cared for Jack in more ways than anyone will ever know, especially in the last few years as he battled many challenges with his health.

Faith and his relationship with Jesus as his Lord and Saviour were extremely important to Jack; he spent many years serving in the Christian Reformed Church as an elder. He loved gospel music, to harmonize his favourite hymns, and when he was able, to participate in choir. He would often say that every day was a gift from the Lord.

Jack served the Rainy River District in his work as an electrician for more than 40 years. He crossed paths with so many people that he deeply appreciated: from fellow tradesmen, suppliers, and long-lasting customers from all over North America. He would often tell stories of the pranks that were played at work, the memorable jobsites, or the special relationships he had with suppliers and customers alike.

After his retirement in 2014, Jack and Anne found their special place on Rainy Lake. While he was content to watch the water and admire God’s creation, you could most often find him puttering on projects. That said, nothing made him happier than when his family was there too, enjoying the cabin. There were endless games, lots of laughter, many projects and happy hours. He was rarely the first to go to bed… probably to ensure that all the lights were off and that solar batteries were preserved.

Jack and Anne loved to spend their winters in Arizona where they renewed some very special friendships and formed many new ones. Countless ‘happy hours’ were spent shuffling, golfing, playing cards, and enjoying dear friends.

Jack is also survived by his children: Cheryl, Chris (Tammy), Carmen (Brooke), Colin (Vicki); grandchildren Seth (Shelbi), Kalen (Claire), Connor, Lauren (Caleb), Sophia, Claudia, Kate, Forrest, Aiden (Alex), Davis (Anna), Ben, Maddie, Caleb, Andrew, Gracie; and great-grandchildren Jameson, Jackson, Dawson and Amaya.

Loved by all his brothers and sisters, in-laws, and nieces and nephews from the Wielinga and Wesselink Families.

A service will be held at the Emo Christian Reformed on Friday November 7, 2025, at 1 p.m.

We are grateful for the amazing care Jack received from the staff at Riverside Health Care. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Jack’s memory to Riverside Health Care. https://www.riversidehealthcare.ca/donate.

Jack will be remembered by how he lived the Wielinga Family motto: A life Rooted in Faith, Hope and Love.
