JACK McCUAIG

It is with deep sadness that the family of Jack McCuaig announces his passing, with his family by his side, on Monday, Sept. 1, 2014 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
Jack was born March 28, 1925 in Fort William, Ont. to the late Kentucky and Laura Mae McCuaig.
Jack moved to Fort Frances in 1947 and had lived here since.
Jack was a veteran of World War II, having served from 1943-46. He served in Belgium and Holland with the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders Infantry.
He began work at the Boise Cascade pulp and paper mill in September, 1965. He retired in 1987 as the Groundwood Supervisor.
Prior to working at the mill, Jack spent 20 years as the manager at the Food Basket in Fort Frances. He also was the co-owner of the Rijnol Jewellry and China Shop with Pat Bartel from 1974-78.
He was a hard-working and generous man who loved spending time with people and loved their kids. He also enjoyed the lake, fishing, dogs, and spending time at the cottage on the Rainy River.
He also loved to travel with his wife, Patricia.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Patricia, of 66 years; two sisters-in-law, June McCuaig and Helen McCuaig; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Kentucky McCuaig and Laura Mae Rickard; one sister, Jean Haywood; and two brothers, Ken and James.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances.
Pastor Ralph Fluit will officiate, followed by interment in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
Friends may visit prior to the funeral service from noon-1 p.m. at Green Funeral Home.
The pallbearers will be Don Bodnarchuk, Brian Bodnarchuk, David Bodnarchuk, Frank Myers, Joey Katz, and Joe Kuvera.
The honourary pallbearers will be Alfred Laroche, Pat Bartel, Ernie McLeod, Robert LaFreniere, David Bell, Don Kress, Brent McCuaig, and Wade Bell.
