Ivaline Jourdain, 78, of Fort Frances, Ont. and formerly of Couchiching First Nation, passed away Friday, Feb. 11, 2005 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.
Ivaline was born Aug. 22, 1926 in St. Peters, Man. to the late Alfred and Rodeanne. She enjoyed playing Bingo, going to the casino, and cooking, and loved taking walks. She enjoyed sewing, and had made blankets and curtains for all of her family. She also loved music, especially the fiddle.
Above all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Ivaline is survived by her children, Joyce Bruyere, Marshall Jourdain, and Irene (Melvin) Morrisseau, all of Couchiching First Nation, and Armand (Lavana Fox) Jourdain Sr. of Fort Frances, Ont.
Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandsons; two brothers, Stanley Flett and Alfred (Rebecca) Flett, all of Winnipeg, Man.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Armand Jourdain; her parents, Alfred and Rodeanne Flett; her infant daughter, Rodeanne; son, Vernon Jourdain; brother, William Flett; and nephew, Billy Flett.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Fr. Francis Pudicherry officiated, with interment in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery.
A funeral wake was held Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005 from 4 p.m. at the Couchiching Bingo Palace. Vigil prayers were held at 7 p.m.
The pallbearers were Dennis Bruyere, Joel Herbert, Armand Jourdain Jr., James Morrisseau, Dave Morrison, and Jeremy Jordan.
The honourary pallbearers were Geraldine Anderson, Roberta Bruyere, Beverly Sweney, Lucille Flett, and Lynn Bruyere.
