Isabelle Ruth Kempf, 84, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on Monday, April 27, 2105 at Rainycrest Long-Term Care in Fort Frances, Ont.
Isabelle was born Dec. 14, 1930 in Shenston Township, Ont. to Oliver and Lilian Potter.
She loved to garden, spending time with her flowers and watching the birds and wildlife that would frequent her residence at Flinders Apartments in Fort Frances.
In 1979, Isabelle moved to southern Ontario, where she met the love of her life, Joe O’Hara. She returned to Fort Frances in 2010 after Joe’s passing.
She was predeceased by her parents, Oliver and Lilian Potter; sister, Lucille Alderson; sister-in-law,Margaret Potter; brother-in-law, Jerry Bedard; and long-time partner, Joe O’Hara.
Isabelle will be greatly missed by her stepdaughter, Margaret Heyens (Gib) of Emo, Ont. and their children, Lisa Ferrara, John Rose (Dana), Jennifer Lougheed (Steve), and April Tait (Jeff); daughter, Elaine Hughes (Irwin) of Devlin, Ont. and their children, Tim Hughes (Nicole), Bryan Hughes, and Amber Hughes; son, Lewis Kempf (Debbie) of Rainy River, Ont. and their children, Nathan Kempf and Tyler Kempf (Alyssa), Michael Sovereign (Chiratidzo), and Melissa Sovereign; daughter, Marlis Kempf of Pugwash, N.S. and her children, Shawn Hooper, Rebecca Laidler, Adam Laidler (Chelsea), and Megan Laidler; daughter, Lillian Gerley of Fort Frances, Ont. and her children, Brad Ogier, Cory Ogier (Julie), and Tara Ogier (Mike); son, Ellis Kempf (Wendy) of Atikokan, Ont. and their children, Nikita Matichuk (Nick) and Kelsey Kempf; and daughter, Stacy Johnson (Frank) of Fort Frances, Ont. and their children, Shannon Johnson and Tammy Johnson; and 30 great-grandchildren.
Isabelle also is survived by her brother, Ronald Potter of Thunder Bay, Ont.; sisters, Mildred Bedard of Fort Frances, Ont. and Dorothy Playle (Bill) of Thunder Bay, Ont.; brother-in-law, Willie (Bernice) Kempf; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Fort Frances, with Rev Brian Keffer officiating.
Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service.
A reception will be held at the church following the service.
Interment will take place in Barwick Cemetery at a later date.
