ISABELLE MAE LLOYD
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Isabelle Mae Lloyd.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. Isabelle lost her long battle with cancer on Feb. 17, 2007 in Truth or Consequences, N.M, surrounded by her caring husband, children, brother, sister, and friends.
Isabelle was born Feb. 15, 1937 in Drumheller, Alta. to Jean and Earl Burt. She was the eldest of eight children.
Isabelle married Walter Ernest Lloyd on Aug. 11, 1956 and together they moved to the Kenora, Ont. area, living and working in the old bush camps. During their first 10 years of marriage, Isabelle and Walter moved several times to and from Ontario and Alberta, and in that time Isabelle gave birth to seven children.
In 1966, the family settled for 13 years in St. Albert, Alta., and then in 1979 made their final move to Nestor Falls, Ont.
Isabelle loved to travel, whether it was to the U.S. for the winter or across Canada with Walter on the pipeline. They visited or lived in all 10 Canadian provinces, as well as 49 of the 50 states.
During her travels, Isabelle played golf, visited with friends and family, and worked on favourite hobbies. She loved to knit and crochet, spending countless hours creating everything from baby clothes to tablecloths for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Isabelle loved meeting new people and, indeed, met many good friends during her years of travel.
She also was an active member of the U.C.W. in Nestor Falls, where she and Walter renewed their vows last August in a beautiful ceremony, celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.
Isabelle dearly loved her family: husband, Walter; children, Donna (Gary) Niskala, Jean (Mike) Dick, William (Susan) Lloyd, Crystal (Bruce) Fraser, Walter (Laurie) Lloyd, David (Glenda) Lloyd, and James (Sheila) Lloyd; grandchildren, April, Jason, Chantal, Jonathan, Stephen, David, Tara, Lindsey, Michael, Shauna, Jessica, Amy-Belle, Alana, Shayla, Shannon, Brittany, and Kylie; and great-grandchildren, Mari Jane, Lexie, and Cayden.
She also is survived by five sisters, Tina Byrnes, Eileen Oxbury, Marilyn Strang, Elaine Macartney, and Sheila Tabor; and two brothers, Robert and David Burt; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Isabelle will remain in the hearts and minds of family and friends forever. She we be thought of often and with love.
A memorial to celebrate her life is planned for May 19, 2007 at the United Church in Nestor Falls.
