It is with both sadness and joy that the family of Iris Corinna Draper announce her passing from this life to be with her Lord and saviour, Jesus Christ, on Friday, June 26, 2009 at La Verendrye Hospital, Fort Frances, Ont.
Iris was born Aug. 9, 1917 in Emo, Ont. to George and Mary Draper. She attended grades one through 12 at the Emo Public School.
She went on to work for Bell Canada as a telephone operator at the Emo exchange. After 15 years of service, she took up employment with Lawrence and Grace Loney at Cloverleaf Grocery in 1949. There she worked as a clerk for 37 years, retiring in 1986 at the age of 69.
She greatly enjoyed meeting and serving the public and working for the Loney family.
Iris was an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church, which her father helped found in 1922. She taught Sunday school for many years and also sang in the choir.
Iris was predeceased by her father, George, in 1937; fiancé, Orville Morphet, in 1952; mother, Mary, in 1953; and her sister, Velma, in 1973.
Iris is survived by her nephew, Donald Dobbs and wife, Patti, and their family of Brooklyn Center, Mn; and cousin, Shirley Olsen and husband, Alfred, of Emo, Ont., and their children, Kendall and wife, Gwen Olsen, and family of Devlin, Ont., Kathryn Olsen and family of Surrey, B.C., and Jo-Anne Griffiths of Winnipeg, Man.
A funeral service and celebration of her life will be held Thursday, July 2, 2009 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Emo, with Pastor Conrad Dueck officiating.
Visitation will take place at 10a .m., with the service beginning at 11 a.m. The service will be followed by a luncheon. All friends and family are welcome to attend.
The pallbearers will be Dave Loney, Bill Loney, Roy Young, John Gerber, Nicholas Olsen, and Brandon Olsen.
Interment in Emo Cemetery in Emo will take place at a later date.
