Irene “Molly” Martin, 85, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Monday, Oct. 27, 1997 at the C.C.U. in La Verendrye General Hospital, Fort Frances, Ont.
Molly was born June 6, 1912 in Fort Frances to the late Norman and Elizabeth (Linklater) Allan. She was raised and lived in Fort Frances all her life.
Molly was united in marriage to Reg Martin on Jan. 10, 1933 and together they raised their three sons in Fort Frances. She was an active member of St. John’s Anglican Church for many years, as well as a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 29 ladies’ auxiliary.
Molly enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking, camping, and especially fishing. Most of all, Molly loved her family and caring for them.
She was predeceased by her husband, Reg Martin (March 26, 1975); son, Bob Martin (July 27, 1957); and sisters, Helen Floyd, Lucille Navesky, Inez Allan, and Dolly Allan.
Molly is survived by her sons, Jerry Martin and wife, Diane, of Fort Frances, Ont., and Allan Martin and wife, Janette, of Calgary, Alta.; five grandchildren, Kim DeGagne (Tim) and Bob Martin (Barb) of Fort Frances, Ont., Tanya Martin of Thunder Bay, Ont., and Susan Martin and Corine Martin (Jon) of Calgary, Alta.; five great-grandchildren, Nathan, Sara, Zachary, Jordan, and Gary; brothers, Norman “Hammy” Martin of Fort Frances, Ont., and Albert Allan and wife, Adde, of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.; and several nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 30, 1997 at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Anglican Church in Fort Frances. Rev. Garth Clifford will officiate, with interment in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
Friends may visit Wednesday, Oct. 29, 1997 from 7-8 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances.
Pallbearers will be Bob Martin, Tim Perreault, Adrian LaFreniere, Bob LaFreniere, Greg Allan, and Darryl Allan.
