It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Irene Stromness (nee Galusha) on Friday, April 5, 2013 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
However, we take great comfort in knowing that she is at home with the Lord.
Irene was born May 17, 1927 in Piney, Man. to the late Ed and Nettie (Glenn) Galusha.
She was united in marriage on Nov. 13, 1948 to the late Henry Stromness, with whom she had five children. The children were taught a good work ethic by her example as she put her heart into everything she did.
With knitting needles in hand, Irene created lovely afghans and mittens. She also made the best cinnamon buns and was proud of her homemade bread.
Her vegetable garden would have been the envy of even the most seasoned gardener, and the product of her hard work yielded a bounty of canned goodness.
Irene also loved flowers. Yellow roses were her favourites and always will bring special memories to her family.
Irene was predeceased by her husband, Henry; son, Glen; granddaughter, Michelle; and daughter-in-law, Monica.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Paul, Larry (Julie), Lory Ann (Jeff), and Ed (Stella); grandchildren, Glen Jr., Chad, Amanda, Trina, Tony, Pam, Barbie, Hannah, Ashley, Joshua, Jeremiah, Isaac, Susie, Kimberly, Travis, and Devin; brothers, Ken and Jerry; and sister, Colleen.
Also surviving are several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Friday, April 12, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the New Beginnings Fellowship Church in Fort Frances, Ont.
