IRENE LEVERMAN

In loving memory of Irene Leverman, 81, of Rainycrest Home for the Aged, 550 Osborne St., Fort Frances, Ont., who passed away peacefully Sunday, March 18, 2001 at her residence.
She was predeceased by her husband, Gordon, on Sept. 11, 1976; parents, Annie and James Bowyer; daughter-in-law, Suzanne; and by several sisters and one brother.
Irene will be greatly missed by her daughters, Betty-Ann and husband, Peter West, of Bear’s Pass, Ont., and Joan Nicolas and Brian Stevens of Toronto, Ont.; son, Peter Leverman of Toronto, Ont.; six grandchildren, Derek West and wife, Shari, Travis West and Jane Buck, Bryan West and fiancé, Lisa McPhee, Ian West and Eileen Woodbeck, Marina-Rae Nicolas, and Zerha Leverman; six great-grandchildren; Eric, Ian, Katelyn, Zachary, Sam, and Daryl-Lynne; and by her close friend, Margaret Watkins and her husband, George, of Portsmouth, England.
Born July 18, 1919 in Whitehall, England, Irene grew up there, marrying Gordon on July 26, 1943 in England during the war. She came to Canada on Aug. 23, 1944, landing in Halifax, N.S.
She worked at the Camphill Hospital in Halifax until moving to Thunder Bay, Ont. in 1974. In Thunder Bay, she worked as a counsellor for social services for several years until retiring and moving to Fort Frances in 1985 to be closer to her daughter, Betty-Ann and her family, whom she loved dearly.
Irene enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and spending time on the lake. She was very proud of all her children and grandchildren, and their accomplishments.
Cremation has taken place at Riverside Crematorium in Thunder Bay, and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
