It is with deep sadness that the family of Irene Gouliquer (nee Albee) announces her passing on Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at the age of 87.
    Irene is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Hector; son, Ed (Gail) of Atikokan, Ont.; and four daughters, Deanna (Wilton Desserre) of Ear Falls, Ont., Wanda (Terry Papadakis) of Ear Falls, Ont., Jane (Rudy Olson) of Manitoba, and Brenda (Jerry Whalen) of Fort Frances, Ont.
    She also will be mourned by her 17 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; a brother, Richard (Myrtle) Albee of Thessalon, Ont.; brothers-in-law, Gerald (Mary) Gouliquer and Bob (Olive) Gouliquer; and sisters-in-law, Irene Landry, Georgett Gouliquer, Stella Huntley, and Mary Gouliquer.
    Irene loved her home. She enjoyed gardening (esp. flowers), sewing, quilting, cooking, and baking. When wintering in Arizona, she took up making China dolls.
    Irene was a 4-H leader for many years in Pinewood.
    She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion in Ear Falls.
    She was born June 18, 1920 in England, immigrated to the U.S. and then to Canada.
    She lived in Arbor Vitae and this is where she met the love of her life, Hector. They married on Dec. 26, 1939 and resided in Arbor Vitae for a few years.
    Then they moved to a small farm in Pinewood. In 1968, they moved to Ear Falls and have made this home since.
    Irene and Hector enjoyed many years of travel and especially the many winters in Arizona.
    She was happiest in the passenger seat of their motorhome as they travelled Canada and the U.S. from coast to coast and north to south.
    She was predeceased by her parents, Edwin and Frances Albee; in-laws, Mary Ann and Pete Gouliquer; brother, William Albee; grandson, Hector Wilton Desserre; granddaughters, Susan (Westra) Dyck; brothers-in-law, Arthur, Pete, Tony, and Theo Gouliquer, Frank Huntley, and Hector Landry; and sisters-in-law, Madeline, Rose and Marlene Gouliquer.
    Visitation was held at the Ear Falls Legion on Friday, July 20, 2007 at 7 p.m.
    Funeral services were held Saturday, July 21, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Legion, Fr. Celestine Agwa officiated.
    The Royal Canadian Legion members presented her with their maple leafs.
    Pallbearers included five grandsons and one great-grandson. They were Gus Papadakis, Bob Whalen, Edwin Gouliquer, Drek Westra, Myles Desserre, and Jerek Desserre.
