Irene Baranowski, 52, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Monday, Sept. 21, 1998 in Kenora, Ont.
Irene was born in Emo, Ont. on March 26, 1946 to the late Michael and Pauline Baranowski. She was raised in Emo, and graduated from Lakehead University’s nursing program.
Irene lived and worked in Fort Frances until 1989, when she moved to British Columbia, and then returned to Fort Frances in 1993.
Irene enjoyed travelling, poetry, and was an avid hockey fan. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, and always had a special love for her family.
She also was predeceased by her sisters, Anne Cutts, Mary Olga, and Nettie Baranowski, and Stella Ball.
Irene is survived by her two daughters, Mitzi Dick and Brian Young of Peterborough, Ont., and Diana Wall of Winnipeg, Man.; son, Michael Dick of Fort Frances, Ont.; four brothers, Mike (Irene), John (Amy), all of Nestor Falls, Ont., Bill (Evelyne) of Emo, Ont., and Danny (Iris) of Logan Lake, B.C.; two sisters, Pauline Baranowski and Julie (Howie) Burns, all of Thunder Bay, Ont.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends visited Friday, Sept. 25, 1998 from 7-8 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Sept. 26, 1998 at 1 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. Pastor Dan Pearson officiated, good friend Lila Johnson sang Irene’s favourite hymn, “One Day at a Time,” and daughter, Mitzi, gave the eulogy.
Cremation took place Monday, Sept. 28, 1998 in Thunder Bay, Ont.
Honourary pallbearers were all of Irene’s family and friends.
