Sadly, the family announces the sudden passing of Joy Milne, 56, of Atikokan, Ont., with her family by her side, on Friday, Sept. 22, 2017 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
Joy was born in Rainy River, Ont. on Feb. 20, 1961 to Harold and Inez (nee Mansfield) Milne. She was raised on the family farm, and had a great love for animals and a wonderful enthusiasm for life.
As a young lady, Joy moved to Atikokan, where she resided for more than 30 years. She accumulated many wonderful friends.
Joy was able to charm her way into the hearts of everyone she met and had a way of bringing out the best in people.
She had a love for music and she was impossible to get off the dance floor. Joy also was the party planner of the family. She made sure there always was balloons, cake, chips, and pop at her birthday and for every other occasion she could think of.
She will be sadly missed by her life companion, Michael Weatherbe and her care-giver, Darlene Cox and Shane.
Joy also will be lovingly remembered by her stepfather, Ray Gates; siblings, Melvin (Lorraine) Milne, Elsie Gerula, Alice (John) Blixt, Linda (Morgan) Stewart, Susan (Ed) St. Pierre, Connie (Allan) Stewart, and MaryAnn (Bill) Olson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Joy was predeceased by her parents, Inez and Harold; sisters, Cathy and June; and brother, Harold Jr.
A service of celebration and remembrance will be was held Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017 from 1-3 p.m. at the Northridge Funeral Home in Emo, Ont.
Interment will take place in the Bergland Cemetery at a later date.
