Sadly the family announces the passing of Ilene Indian, 73, of Onigaming First Nation on Nov. 10, 2025, at the La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ontario.
Ilene was born on December 28, 1951, in Kenora, Ontario, to parents Alfonse and Mary Rose White. Ilene worked for many years as a language teacher throughout the Rainy River District.
She will be greatly missed by her husband Larry; her daughter Veronica; grandchildren Makenna, Tegan and Kale.
Ilene is also survived by her siblings Alfred (Phyllis) Oshie, Lucille (Bryan) Davis, Sandra (Tom) Copenace, Alo (Carla) White, Joan Meekis, Diane (Scoopy) Kelly and sisters-in-law Isobel White, Marilyn White; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ilene was predeceased by her parents Alfonse and Mary Rose; her daughter Angela Indian; and her siblings Lorette (James) Bird, Cecil White, Tommy White, Jimmy (Mary) White and brother-in-law Johnson Meekis.
A service of celebration and remembrance will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at 11 a.m. from the Northridge Funeral Home Ltd. in Emo, Ontario.
