Ila A. McLennan (nee Frant), 84, of Appleton, Wis., passed away peacefully on Friday, Dec. 24, 2010 surrounded by her family.
She was born April 20, 1926 in Tornio, Finland, the daughter of the late Emil and Sylvia Frant.
As a young child, she moved with her parents to Fort Frances, Ont., where she attended school. She later worked for many years as a secretary to the president of a pulp and paper company.
Ila married Bob McLennan in 1951 and moved to Appleton in 1969 with her family.
She was a member of the Appleton Women’s Club and Order of the Eastern Star. Ila also was an avid gardener and bridge player. As well, she enjoyed travelling, summer vacations at the cottage on Rainy Lake, and winter ski trips with her family.
Above all else, her interests were centered on her family.
Ila is survived by her husband of 59 years, Bob McLennan of Appleton, Wis.; son, Jim McLennan of Milwaukee, Wis.; daughter, Riley McLennan of Appleton, Wis.; and granddaughter, Jamie Cronce, and grandson, Jack Cronce, both of Appleton, Wis.
She was predeceased by her parents and an infant sister, Raili.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010 at 1 p.m. at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 3009 N. Meade St., Appleton, with Rev. James Seim officiating.
Visitation will be held from noon until the time of service.
Inurnment will take place at Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
