IDA E. MOEN

Ida Moen, 85, of 425 Nelson St., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away suddenly at her residence Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001.
Ida was born Nov. 1, 1915 in Fort Frances to the late Natale and Maria DeBenedet. At an early age, she quit school to look after her family.
On June 7, 1932, she was united in marriage to Jul Moen.
Ida was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances. Her hobbies included making crafts, which she loved to do, especially pressing flowers.
Ida’s greatest gift in life was in helping others. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Jul Moen, on Dec. 2, 1997; son, William “Bill” Moen on May 2, 1996; eight brothers, Peter, Louis, Angelo, Joseph, Arthur, Fredrick, Marlo, and Fermine DeBenedet; one sister, Alvira Dhur; five brothers-in-law, Alphonse Daignault, Ernie Charlebois, George LaRocque, Pete Peters, and Leonard Dhur; and four sisters-in-law, Angeline DeBenedet, Millie DeBenedet, Enrica DeBenedet, and Josephine DeBenedet.
Ida is survived by her daughter, Elsie, of Thunder Bay, Ont.; daughter-in-law, Violet Moen of Fort Frances, Ont.; six grandchildren, Nancy and husband, Rod Bedford, and their children, Rheanna and Kyla, all of Newcastle, Ont., Linda Moen of Fort Frances, Ont., Brent Moen and wife, Marilyn, and their children, Geoffrey, Andrew, and Brittany, all of Winnipeg, Man., Brian Moen and wife, Bernadette, and their children, Robert, Peter, David, and Matthew, all of Fort Frances, Ont., Sheryl and husband, Jerry Ward, and their children, Tesh, Tia, and Tonya, all of Thunder Bay, Ont., and Angela Krupper and her daughter, Jessica, both of Thunder Bay, Ont.; and three great-great grandchildren, Devon and Tristian Ward, and Shayla Krupper.
Also surviving are three sisters, Armenia Charlebois of Fort Frances, Ont., Olga LaRocque of Thunder Bay, Ont., and Mary and husband, Mike Zamalynski, of Burnaby, B.C.; one sister-in-law, Carmella DeBenedet of Fort Frances, Ont.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2001 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances. Father Eugene Whyte O.M.I. will officiate, with interment in St. Andrew’s Cemetery in Thunder Bay, Ont.
