HERMINA JANE FLETCHER

The family of the late Hermina Jane Fletcher (Tilley), 76, sadly announces her passing on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
She was born Feb. 27, 1938 to the late Jim and Eva Tilley in Widewater, Alta.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Mel Fletcher.
Those who knew Hermina knew she was a special soul. Her warm, gentle smile, quick wit, and loving nature touched all those she held dear to her heart. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend.
If you had a question about gardening, Hermina was the person to talk to. She had a green thumb and could grow just about anything.
She also loved to try new things and was very creative. Painting, crocheting, embroidery, cooking, quilting, songwriting, poetry, and gardening were just a few of her favourite things to do.
She considered everyone she loved as her family and those who knew her knew how very much they meant to her.
She is lovingly remembered as telling it like it was whether you liked it or not. It is an endearing quality that not many people could pull off, but she could.
Hermina could see the beauty in everything and had a magical way about her. She saw the beauty in a rainbow and could turn chocolate chips and brown sugar into a cure for everything.
Butterflies and honeybees and everything in between were the start of fairy-tale story adventures.
She was a devoted wife and a loving mother to her children. She was the most amazing grandmother to her “babies.” She had a way to make each grandchild feel so special everytime she saw them or talked to them.
Caitlin summed it up best when she said, “My gramma has always been an angel except now she has wings.”
Hermina was predeceased by her parents, Jim and Eva Tilley; her only daughter, Teresa Brown; brother and sister-in-law, Lloyd and Kathy Tilley; sister, Violet Anderson; and brother-in-law, Cecil Fletcher.
She is dearly missed by her loving husband, Mel Fletcher; loving sons, Melvin of Fort Frances, Ont. and David (Brenda) of Winnipeg, Man.; and son-in-law, Miles Brown of Atikokan, Ont.
She also is sadly missed by her grandchildren, Melissa Fletcher of Toronto, Ont. and Caitlin Fletcher (Mike) of Thunder Bay, Ont., Jennifer Commins (Jeff) and Jolene Brown of Atikokan, Ont., Justin Brown (Silka) of Germany, and Christopher Fletcher and Samantha Fletcher (Chris) of Winnipeg, Man.; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Brandon, and Emily Brown of Atikokan, Ont. and Cody Commins of Timmins, Ont.; and by her dear friends, daughter-in-law, Sue Fletcher, and aunt, Kate Bragg.

She also is survived by her brothers, Jim (Val) Tilley of Dryden, Ont., Peter (Marilyn) Tilley of Dryden, Ont., and Clarence (Elsie) Tilley of Bonnieville, Alta.; sister, Faye (Ed) Turner of Dryden, Ont.; and brother-in-law, Wes Anderson of Flasher, N.D.
Also surviving are her sister-in-law, Mae (Albert) Truelove of Devlin, Ont.; sister-in-law, Darlene Fletcher of Emo, Ont.; brother-in-law, Les (Sandy) Fletcher of Red Lake, Ont.; sister-in-law, Ida (Vince) Brunet of Red Lake, Ont. and brother-in-law, James (Gail) Fletcher of Red Lake, Ont.; and by numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and the many special people she considered family.
As per Hermina’s request, there will not be a funeral service.
Cremation has taken place, and a quiet family gathering will take place at a later date in Atikokan at her daughter’s graveside.
We were all grateful to have called her ours and will miss her more than words will ever be able to express.
