Henry Ossachuk

It is with great sadness that the family of Henry Ossachuk announces his passing on Thursday, April 14, 2005 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
Henry was born Aug. 3, 1927 in Fort Frances to Joseph and Anne Ossachuk. He had resided here, in the family home, all of his life.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Alice Amiot; daughter, Allyson and husband, John Albanese, of Fort Frances, Ont.; son, Paul and wife, Pam, of Thunder Bay, Ont.; grandchildren, Tara Albanese-Higgins (Terry) of Fort Frances, Ont., John-Paul Albanese (Davina) of Fort Frances, Ont., Susan Ossachuk-Potec (John) of Thunder Bay, Ont., and Jessica Munn of Fort Frances, Ont.; and great-grandchildren, Oryn, Michael, and Alexander of Fort Frances, Ont.
Henry was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Anne; brothers, Steve, Harry, William, and John Ossachuk; and sisters, Mary Ossachuk and Nettie Sherling.
Henry joined the local paper mill as a young man, working 43 years before retiring in 1987. Henry was very active with his local union and served in several capacities.
He was honoured as Labour’s Person-of-the-Year in 1991 for his dedication to the union.
As well, Henry was affiliated with the CNIB, holding the position as campaign chairman helping to promote community awareness. He also was a proud and generous blood donor, receiving a certificate of recognition for his 50-plus donations before his health required him to stop.
When able, Henry loved to travel and visit casinos. But most of all, Henry will be remembered for his love of coffee. His pastimes revolved around his family and dogs. He was especially proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
At Henry’s request, cremation has taken place and a private interment will be held at a later date.
Friends were invited to visit and celebrate Henry’s life on Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at the Ossachuk residence (434 Third St. E.) in Fort Frances from 2-8 p.m.
