HENRY HERMAN ZIMMERMAN

It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of our beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend on June 25, 1999.
Henry and his twin sister, Mary, were born in Emo, Ont. on Nov. 30, 1962. He grew up on his family’s dairy farm, where he discovered his love for working on machines.
After completing high school in Fort Frances, Henry moved to Thunder Bay to take an aviation mechanics course at Confederation College. After completion of the course, he began as an apprentice at Yukon Helicopters Ltd. (YHL) in Winnipeg and quickly moved to the position of chief engineer.
While at YHL, Henry met Cynthia. In September, 1992, they married and settled down in the Pine Falls, Man. area. A year later, he went to work as chief engineer for Provincial Helicopters in Lac du Bonnet, Man.
After a short stay there, Henry turned his talents to airplanes and began working for Blue Water Aviation, where he was employed until the time of his death.
Henry was a quiet, gentle man with a heart of gold. He loved to laugh and enjoyed life. He loved working with his hands and his great passion was working on machines. He could be found building rice pickers, working on motorcycles, golf carts, airplanes, or whatever came his way. He was always there to lend a helping hand.
When he wasn’t tinkering, he could be found playing cards at Uncle George’s, enjoying a quiet evening with family, or having coffee with friends.
Henry leaves to mourn his wife, Cynthia, and his two stepchildren, Christina and Daniel Tarrant. He also leaves to mourn his parents, Michael and Elizabeth Zimmerman of Emo, Ont.; brothers, Ted (Debbie) of Emo, Peter (Dawn) of Minneapolis, Mn., Karl (Val) of Fort Frances, Ont., and Bernie (Rosanne) of Emo, Ont.; sisters, Liz Forrester (Jon) of Emerson, Man., Lucy Wilson (Gary) of Devlin, Ont., Mary Hyatt (Doug) of Devlin, Ont.; mother-in-law, Carol Van Buren (Denis Pereux) of Pine Falls, Man.; father-in-law, Carl Van Buren, sister-in-law, Cathy Van Buren, and brother-in-law, Paul Van Buren, all of Winnipeg; and nieces and nephews, Laura, Linda, Sarah, Curtis, Kevin, Joshua, Nathan, Rebecca, Lisa, Brian, Michael, Amy, Matthew, Tina, Jeremy, and Alanna.
He will be especially missed by Uncle George Van Buren; his niece, Alanna; his friends with Pine Falls District Ambulance; and his co-workers and friends at Blue Water Aviation.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 30 at 2 p.m. at Pine Falls, Man.
A memorial services will be held Monday, July 5, 1999 at 2 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Emo, Ont.
Thank you to Search and Rescue (Trenton) and the Little Grand Rapids RCMP detachment for their help and assistance during this difficult time.
Henry, we love you so very much
And it’s hard to say good-bye,
God has called you home
Ours is not to question why.
Know that you’re loved and missed
With every tear we cry.
