After a long, courageous battle with cancer, Henry Charles Richert passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Monday, June 7, 1999 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
He was born Feb. 9, 1929 in Fort Frances to the late Gottlieb and Amelia Richert. Henry was united in marriage to Edith (Wood) on April 11, 1947. She was his loving companion for 52 years, and never left his side.
Henry retired from the mill in 1987 as head security guard after 41 years of service. He then spent 12 years enjoying life, gardening, hunting, fishing, making tackle, and with his one true passion, his family.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Edith of Fort Frances; son, Allen (Karen) and children, Jennifer, Andrew, Allison, and their mother, Lou, of Thunder Bay, Ont.; daughter, Darleen Derkson (Bob) and children, Bobbi Jo, Patti, and Jonathon of Fort Frances, Ont.; son, William (Dana) and children, Lane and Brayton of Freemont, N.B.; son, Joe (Linda) and children, Tena, Jolene, and Miranda of Fort Frances, Ont.; and daughter, Debbie Dokuchie (Michael) and children, Joshua and Matthew of Dryden, Ont.
Also surviving is his mother-in-law, Amy Wood of Fort Frances, Ont.; and one sister, Ann Johnson and husband, Gilbert, of International Falls, Mn.
He was predeceased by his siblings, Emil, Bill, Helen, Edna, Olga, Pauline, Lil, and Mun; and one granddaughter, Tara Lynn.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, June 10, 1999 at 9:30 a.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with Rev. David Gallas officiating.
Cremation took place in Thunder Bay, Ont.
