HELEN MARGARET MCQUAKER

It is with great sadness that the family of Helen McQuaker announce her passing at the age of 82.
Helen was born July 12, 1921 in Rainy River, Ont. to Charles and Magna Hodges. She lived all of her life in Rainy River with the exception of a few years spent in Port Arthur. As a young woman she waitressed and later worked as a seamstress for Arctic Cat. She was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Major Hughes Branch and had served as president of the Ladies Auxiliary. She also enjoyed sewing and knitting in spare time.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband Andy McQuaker on July 17, 2001; sons-in-law, Norman McNally, Ben Dobransky, Gary Ivall and Robert (Red) McDonald; grandson, Darwin McNally; great granddaughters, Hailey McNally; and brother, Norman Hodge.
Helen leaves behind her children, Margaret (Pat) Bartel, of Morson, Nancy (Fred) Gate of Bergland, Norma (Herb) Foster of Winnipeg, Marlene McNally, Elizabeth Dobransky, Donna Ivall all of Rainy River, David McQuaker of Emo, Cheryl (Walter) Duggan, Sheila (Ed Cyr) Connor all of Winnipeg, Terry (Sherri) McQuaker of Rainy River and Tammy (Warren Loveday) McQuaker of Emo; 30 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ethel Wilson, Eileen Hodge, Gean (Bill) Ewald, all of Rainy River, Charolette (Gordon) Calder of Fort Frances, and Shirley (Orville) Thacker of Kitchener; brothers, Ken Hodges of Melville, Sask., and Lloyd Hodges of Rainy River; aunts, Stella Jenson of McInnes Creek and Helen Wensley of British Columbia; sister-in-law, Mina Ducasse; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and extended family.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Aug. 25, 2003 at 11 a.m. at St. James Anglican Church in Rainy River, Ont.
Visitation was held on Sunday, Aug. 24, 2003 from 7 until 9 p.m. at Rainy River Funeral Home in Rainy River, Ont.
Glen Armstrong officiated with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Rainy River, Ont.
The honourary pallbearers were Danny McDonald, Johnny Stone, Bryan McDonald, Warren Loveday, Robbie Gates, Lorraine McDonald and Marg Westover.
The pallbearers were Wally Duggan, Herb Foster, Ed Cyr, David McQuaker, Michael Stone and Chuck McNally.
The Honour Guard was provided by the Royal Canadian Legion Major Hughes Branch Ladies Auxiliary.
