Sadly the family announces the passing of Helen Lalonde, 87, on March 4, 2026, at the Rainycrest Long Term Care in Fort Frances.
Helen was born on March 28, 1938, to parents Jim and Ella McRae. She was united in marriage to Leonard Lalonde in 1962. They settled on the Lalonde family farm along the Rainy River and raised their family. Over the years Helen worked by her husband Len on the farm and also worked at numerous tourist camps. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening and especially watching the boats go up and down the Rainy River, which she could see from their farm.
She will be lovingly remembered by her sons Ken, Gary and Murray; her eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Helen is also survived by her siblings Jean, Mabel, Mary (Jack), Sharon (Phillip), Shirley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Len; grandson Daniel; and brother Don and sister Kathleen Lloyd.
A graveside service is planned in the spring in Emo Cemetery.
