It is with great sorrow we announce that Heather Dubois (nee Burling) of Fort Frances, Ont., peacefully passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2024, with loved ones by her side.
She was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on May 1, 1951, and was the oldest daughter of five children born to Frank and Wilhelmina Burling.
She married the love of her life, Roland Dubois, on Dec. 5, 1970, and spent 48 beautiful years together until his passing in 2018.
She was the centre and foundation of our families. She wasn’t just a part of our family; she was the heart of it, our Queen Bee. She is the one each sibling or grandchild called for advice, house problems or work, spiritual help, a simple listening ear and so much more.
She was often working on updating her children’s homes, sewing, drinking the freshest coffee every sunrise, finding recipes, and spending time with her grandkids. No matter the weather or season she could found doing all those things in one of the many pairs of slippers she owned.
She had a strong relationship with God. She loved to share her own story and how she got saved at 30 years old and how He completely changed her life. God was her foundation. Attending church regularly gave her so much joy and spiritual connection to many.
She was the fiercest, loving, and strongest mama bear. A second mom to so many. Her nurturing spirit had her caring constantly “for the underdog.” She had such a motherly nature, fostering 14 kids, running her own daycare, and babysitting her grandkids, every single child in which she held so dear in her heart.
She was the ultimate fighter in life. So stubborn, so independent, so strong. No matter what came her way, she faced it with strength, beauty, dignity and heart.
Oh what an honour it is to call you our Mom, Grandma, Auntie, and friend. Till we meet again in paradise.
Left to cherish her memory are her five children Rosanne (Sean), Rene (Terri), Sherry (Rickey), Sharon (Tyler), and Mike (Tori); and 11 grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her husband Roland Dubois; parents; and five siblings.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Couchiching Multiuse.
She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. The world’s best had to go a little too soon. We love you, Mom.
