Hazel Victoria Clink, 101, a long-time resident of the Emo Health Centre in Emo, Ont., passed away Friday, March 7, 2003.
Hazel was born Oct. 10, 1901 in Chicago, Ill. to Benjamin and Rachel Hadley. The Hadley family then moved to the Barwick, Ont. area in 1902, where Hazel lived for most of her life.
She was united in marriage to Gordon Earl Clink on Dec. 29, 1919.
She worked as a telephone operator for Bell Canada in Barwick, and was an active member of Barwick’s First Baptist Church. Hazel also loved to write and recite poetry, and wrote and published a book of poems.
She was predeceased by her husband, Gordon on Nov. 5, 1955; parents, Benjamin and Rachel Hadley; daughter, Donalda Lorraine Lowe; sisters, Anna Horley and Mary Crowe; brother, Benjamin Hadley; and daughter-in-law, June Clink.
Hazel will be greatly missed by her children, Joyce Evelyn Barron and husband, Norman, of Barwick, Ont., David Lyall Clink and wife, Patricia, of Kenora, Ont., William Hadley Clink and wife, Emily, of Barwick, Ont., and Donald Gordon Clink and wife, Jeannie, of Barwick, Ont.; son-in-law, John Lowe of Fort Frances, Ont.; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 13, 2003 at 2 p.m. at the Chapple Community Hall, with Pastor Leslie Abbott officiating.
Friends may visit one hour prior to the service.
Interment will take place at the Chapple Cemetery at a later date.
The pallbearers will be Gordon Clink, Troy Clink, Teph Clink, Wayne Barron, Doug Barron, and Sean Ahrens.
If friends so desire, in memoriam donations may be made to the Barwick Community Church.
