Hazel Smith passed away quietly at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont. on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003 after a lengthy illness.
She was born May 23, 1922 in Hamilton, Ont. to Leonard and Mary Pogson. She married Robert Walker Smith on July 24, 1956 in Hamilton.
She had lived in Minnesota for 37 years before returning to Fort Frances for the rest of her life.
Hazel is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Darrell) Webb of Fort Frances, Ont.; son, Douglas (May) Berry of Hamilton, Ont.; son, Robert Smith of Fort Frances, Ont.; and daughter, Marilyn Smith of St. Cloud, Mn.;
Also surviving are her sister-in-law, Vera Pogson; two nephews, Brian and Wayne Pogson of Hamilton, Ont.; grandchildren, Katherine (Robert) Nugent, Brad (Corinne) Webb, and Laurie (David) Brown of Fort Frances, Ont., and Christina (Earl) Stone and Eileen Berry of Hamilton, Ont.; great-grandchildren, Leslee, Clinton, Douglas, Erica, Janine, Braden, Austin, and Colton; and great-great-grandson, Logan.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert, on Dec. 3, 1999; parents, Leonard and Mary Pogson; brother, Mel Pogson; and granddaughter, Lisa Marie Webb.
A graveside service will be held at a later date.
