Harold “Sonny” William Carmody entered the Lord’s presence on Friday, Oct. 9, 2009.
He was born in Fort Frances, Ont. on April 6, 1922.
Harold grew up in Canada, became a U.S. citizen, and joined the U.S. Navy Seabees during World War II.
In 1945, Harold married Marian Elizabeth Carroll of International Falls, Mn. and celebrated 55 years of marriage together before the passing of Marian in 2000.
Harold is survived by his oldest daughter, Diana Lynn Bull, and her husband, Harrison Bull; son, Ronald Thomas Carmody, and his wife, Lynne Carmody; daughter, Janet Marie Harry, and her husband, Jim Harry; and youngest daughter, Terry Ann Knell, and her husband, Jim Knell.
He also is survived by six grandchildren, Staci, Stephanie, Lori, Jimmy, Jason, and Jeffery; and seven great-grandchildren.
As well, Harold is survived by three sisters, Mickey Cross, Julie Johnson, and Carol Velacich, and a brother, Kenneth Carmody, and their families.
In 1955, Harold and Marian relocated to Chico, Calif. Devout Catholics, they attended St. John Baptist Catholic Church for more than 45 years and enjoyed many Bingo games and activities with fellow parishioners.
Harold also played hockey, and was an avid fan of the Sacramento Kings and San Jose Sharks.
For many decades, he was a licensed contractor, owning Carmody Backhoe Services.
Private memorial services were held at Glen Oaks Memorial Park in Chico.
