Harold Meredith Cotton passed away Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001 at the Hotel Dieu Hospital in Sherbrooke, Que. at the age of 93.
Born on June 19, 1907, he was the youngest son of the late Edwin and Wilhemina (Minnie) Cotton of 694 Elm St., Sherbrooke.
He leaves his sons and their wives, Meredith and Lesley Cotton of Pointe-Claire, Que., and David and Helen Cotton of Saskatoon, Sask.; three grandchildren, Geoffery, Andrew, and Christopher of Saskatoon; and sisters, Myrtle Spencer of Georgetown, Ont., and Marguerite Cotton of Sherbrooke.
He also leaves his wife, Hilda MacFayden (Smith); step-daughter, Joan Mudge; step-grandson, Guy, all of fort Frances, Ont., and step-granddaughter, Lisa of Winnipeg.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Margaret Cotton (Paterson); sisters, Violet Mundy, Rose Knight, Lily Millier, and Pansy Cotton; and brother, Charlie Cotton.
Harold was known for his creative abilities as an electrician and home builder, and his wonderful pioneering spirit. He loved to play bridge, and was a member of the Eastern Star and Masonic Lodges.
A graveside memorial service is planned at a later date at the Riverside Cemetery in Fort Frances, where he is to be buried.
