Gregory Alfred Halwachs, 27, of Edam, Sask., passed away at his home on Jan. 25, 1998 after a brief battle with cancer.
He was born in Steinbach, Man. on Jan. 27, 1970 to Gloria and Alfred Halwachs.
He is survived and sadly missed by his wife, Noelle; his sister, Carrie, and children, Heather and Curtis Hartlin and Wes Zechel, of Winnipeg; brother, Geoffrey and wife, Jennifer, of Langley, B.C.; mom and dad, Gloria and Alfred of Fort Frances; grandparents, Lloyd and Joan Ruud of South Junction, Man., and Anne Halwachs of Winnipeg, Man.; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his Grandpa Halwachs; and a cousin, Todd Halwachs.
Funeral services took place in Grenfell, Sask. on Jan. 28, 1998, with interment in Wolsely, Sask.
Greg completed his elementary and high school education in Fort Frances. He then completed a three-year Bachelor of Theology in Saskatoon, Sask. Greg was an assistant pastor in Glenavon, Sask., in Kamloops, B.C., and was pastoring at Edam and at Paynton, Sask. at the time of his passing.
He was involved with youth groups in several churches, and also assisted with pioneering a church in Odessa, Sask. He was ordained as a pastor in 1996.
Greg loved to play football, hockey, and golf. The Dallas Cowboys remained his favourite team. He loved to play jokes on people and have fun. Most of all, Greg loved the Lord, and his family.
