The family of Greg Herrmann are extremely saddened to announce his sudden passing on Monday, Oct. 1, 2018 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont. with family by his side.
Gregory Ray “Bro” Herrmann was born in Fort Frances on Jan. 18, 1959 to Ray and Betty Herman. He was raised on the family farm in Aylsworth Township, south of Emo, Ont., and attended public school at Donald Young and graduated from Fort Frances High School.
He married the love of his life, Mary Gagne, on June 25, 1994.
While still in high school, Greg started working at Busch’s Machine Shop on the river. When he turned 18, he started his career in the local paper mill. He worked there from 1977 until his retirement in 2014, having attained the position of Oiler.
While he was at the mill, he started his own business, GRH Services. After retirement, not one to be idle, he drove truck for Devlin Automotive.
Greg was an avid Harley-Davidson enthusiast. He was especially proud of his 100th-anniversary edition Harley. Greg and Mary moved to their dream place on the lake, where they spent many happy years. It became a gathering place for family and friends.
He always looked forward to his annual trips to Sturgis. He also participated in many charitable events and fundraisers. Greg always was there for everybody and was the first to offer a helping hand.
We will miss him dearly.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; mother, Betty Herman; brother, Brad (Sue) and their son, Tyler (Shelby); and sister, Dianne McCoy (Rob) and her children, Joel (Sydney) and Christina (Clarence).
He also is survived by his sister-in-law, Vicki Gagne-Smith (Steve); brother-in-law, Bert Gagne (Karen) and his children, Jennifer (Justin) and his son, Joel; sister-in-law, Debbie Gagne (John) and her children, Danny and Carly; as well as numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Greg was predeceased by his father, Ray; in-laws, Albert and Marge Gagne; brother-in-law, Phil McCoy; and his wonderful loving pets.
A celebration of life for Greg will be held Friday, Oct. 5, 2018 at 1 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion in Fort Frances.
