It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Grace Chambers.
Grace passed away Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003 at the age of 86 at the Atikokan General Hospital in Atikokan, Ont. She was born June 30, 1916 in McGillvray Township, Ont. to the late Charles and Agnes Parker.
Grace was united in marriage to William James Chambers on Nov. 12, 1935 in International Falls, Mn. They moved to Atikokan from Carpenter Township in 1953.
Grace was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Atikokan for almost 50 years, receiving her 25-year pin in 1980.
She was an avid quilter who always looked forward to getting together with the Fix-It club. She also enjoyed sewing and gardening.
Grace will be greatly missed by her husband, James; children, Don and wife, Yvonne, of Fort Frances, Ont., Laila and husband, Leo Goranson, of McAuley Lake, Ont., and Darrell and wife, Liz, of Atikokan, Ont.; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are her sister, May Hambrook of Calgary, Alta.; brothers-in-law, Dave Chambers and wife, Louise, of Fort Frances, Ont., and Bruce Chambers and wife, Gladys, of Penticton, B.C.; sister-in-law, Lorraine Hatch of Penticton, B.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Fred, Wilton, and Ted Parker; and sister, Amy Hartlen.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2003 at 1 p.m. at Riverview United Church in Atikokan. Rev. Gord Waldie will officiate, with interment in Little Falls Cemetery.
The pallbearers will be Grace’s grandsons.
