Gordon Markam Meyers, loving father of Grant (Lucinda) and Kim (Geoff), passed away peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006 at the Emo Health Centre in Emo, Ont.
Gordon was born May 17, 1933 in Iroquois Falls, Ont. to Markam and Stella Meyers (nee Owen).
Gordon’s passion in life was his grandchildren, Taylor and Devin Meyers and Katie, Spencer, and Danielle Pearce. Besides his children and grandchildren, Gordon also is survived by one sister, Bernice Campbell of Emo, Ont.
Gordon moved to Emo at the age of 13. There, he met the love of his life, Adele Littlefield, and later was united in marriage to her on Oct. 11, 1954.
In 1959, Gordon became the owner of the retail clothing store in Emo known as “Meyers Clothing,” which he owned and managed until his retirement in 1998.
Over the years, Gordon served several terms as reeve of Emo. He also was very active in the Baptist Church and as a Gideon. Gordon loved Clearwater Lake, where he spent every summer until illness prevented him from going.
He was predeceased by his wife, Adele Meyers, on Oct. 26, 2001.
Gordon had many special friendships with his Clearwater Lake family and the local coffee group, and will be missed by his family, relatives, and friends.
Memorial services will be held Friday, March 3, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the Christian Reformed Church in Emo, with Pastor Andrew Hall officiating.
