On Wednesday, April 19, 2017, surrounded by family, Gladys McPherson walked with the Lord to meet her parents, brother, and sisters.
She was born on Aug. 26, 1949 in Fort Frances, Ont. to John and Clara McPherson.
She grew up in Couchiching First Nation, Ont. and later taught in Fort Albany, Ont. as a young woman. When she returned to Couchiching First Nation, she worked as band manager before joining the staff of St. Michael’s School.
Gladys was a long-time member of the C.W.L. She also loved to garden, listen to music, and travel to Garden River and Rankin First Nations to visit family and friends.
Gladys leaves behind her daughter, Annette McPherson (Jay); brother, Eugene McPherson and wife, Ria; sister, Loretta Foran; sister-in-law, Sharon McPherson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, John and Clara; brother, Lynn John McPherson; and sisters, Sue Anne Robinson, Rose Marie McPherson, and Annette McPherson.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 7 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with parish prayers offered at 7:30 p.m.
A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church at Couchiching First Nation.
The pallbearers will be Christopher McPherson, Patrick McPherson, Mike Yuill, Randy Jones, Valley Calder, and Rick Baker.
The honourary pallbearers will be her nieces and nephews.
An Honour Guard will be provided by the Catholic Women’s League.
The family gratefully requests that in memoriam donations be made to the Riverside Foundation-Dialysis Unit, 110 Victoria Ave., Fort Frances, Ont., P9A 1B7.
