It is with heavy hearts that the family of Gladys Kinnear (nee Swire) announce her passing on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at the age of 95.
Mom grew up in Burriss, Ont. and moved to Emo, Ont. at the age of 16.
She was united in marriage to Howard Kinnear on Aug. 12, 1942. Together they raised their five children, Charles, Don, Dwight, Myles, and Karen.
Mom had a love for all animals, and had many happy memories of caring for her ducks and chickens. She also enjoyed her flower garden and watching the hummingbirds.
Family was very important to Mom and she was happiest when surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She also enjoyed her visits with her many nieces and nephews, lifelong friend, Lou Achen, special friends, Marina Gerber, Dorothy and Bill Sylvester, and Alice Irvine, and her neighbourhood and Golden Age Manor friends.
Mom was predeceased by Dad and our brother, Dwight; and her siblings, Philip (Margaret) Swire, Mildred (Burritt) Brown, Anna (Ivan) Brown, and George (Lorraine) Swire.
She is survived by her children, Charles Kinnear, Don (Dixie) Kinnear, Myles (Teddianne) Kinnear, and Karen (Tom) Wacker; grandchildren, Darcy (Jen), Marietta (John), BettyAnn, Harry, Larry, Terry, Allen (Tammy), Carla (Kim), Scott (Colleen), Melissa (Rob), Jonathan, Tyler, Craig (Lindsay), Dan (Jennifer), Brian (Emily), Megan (Caleb), and Trista; 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Mom’s life will be held Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church in Emo, with Pastor Conrad Dueck officiating.
Interment will take place in the Emo Cemetery.
