It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dear mother, Gladys Allan, 82, on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at her Emo residence.
Lovingly remembered by daughters, Marilyn McNally, Sharon (Les) McNally, Lorraine Loveday (Ken Barnes), and Norma (Ron) Both; and son, Gerald (Wendy) Allan.
Sadly missed by 17 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Alice Allan and Eileen Martin; and brother-in-law, Zolton Gfelner.
Fondly remembered by close friend, Connie Hill; son-in-law Clifford Loveday; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gladys was born in La Vallee, Ont on March 26, 1924 to the late Malcolm and Gladys Martin. She was raised in Burriss Township, along with her three brothers and one sister.
For a short time, she resided in Saskatchewan with her grandmother and aunt.
On April 8, 1943, she married the love of her life, Wallace Allan, and together they purchased a farm and began their life together. Gladys enjoyed working on the farm and raising her family. Teaching and providing for her children the life skills they would need for a prosperous future.
She also was a valued member of the Dobie Township Women’s Institute, and always enjoyed a game of bingo, hockey, or the occasional crossword puzzle.
Gladys was predeceased by her loving husband, Wallace (2001); son-in-law, Donald McNally; grandchildren, Keith and Glenda McNally; great-grandson, Allan Ritchie; brothers, Theodore, Alex, and John Martin; and sister, Inez Tribe.
Friends and family were received at the Northridge Funeral Home in Emo, Ont. on Thursday, March 8, 2007 from 7-9 p.m., where funeral services were held Friday, March 9, 2007 at 2 p.m.
Rev Frances Flook officiated.
Interment will take place in the Emo Cemetery at a later date.
The pallbearers and honourary pallbearers were Lyndon McNally, Randy McNally, Gary Loveday, Wally McNally, Murray Both, Allan Loveday, Larry Both, Justin Allan, Christopher Allan, Mathew Allan, Marlene Ritchie, Dawn McNally, Audrey Nguyen, Christine Loveday, Sandra Both, Tammy Strachan, Michelle Anderson, and Tammy-Lynne Kinnear.
