GLADYS ARMSTRONG

In loving memory of Gladys Armstrong, 83, of Rainy River, Ont., who passed away at the Dryden Regional Health Centre on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000.
Gladys was born Aug. 29, 1917 in Hazenmore, Sask. to the late Isaiah and Ethel Huntley. Gladys moved to the Bergland area in 1931.
Later, she was united in marriage to Charlie Armstrong.
Gladys worked as a cook at Red Deer Lodge in Nestor Falls for 17 years. She then worked at Handberg’s Camp at Crane Lake, Mn. for seven years.
After her retirement, she helped in the kitchen at the Legion in Rainy River. She enjoyed visiting with her many friends at the Legion.
Gladys was predeceased by her husband, Charlie Armstrong, on Feb. 14, 1979; her sisters, Muriel Bylund, Florence Nixon, Bessie Bennet, Hazel Larson, Elsa Wrolstad, and Jean Lundquist; her brothers, Chester, Percy, Morris, Frank, Walter and Norman; her grandson, Murray Oleksiw, and two-great-granddaughters, Renee Beaudoin and Meranda Kaus.
Gladys is survived by three daughters, Jean Morton and her husband Roy, of Dryden, Ont.,, Gertie Venne and her husband Gerald, of Shebandowan, Ont., and Darlene Kaus of Rainy River, Ont. Also surviving is one brother, Jack Huntley and his wife Irene, of Fort Frances, Ont.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Glen Kaus and wife Cathy, Ramona Venne and Joel Rivest; Miles Venne and wife Christina, Randy Oleksiw and Rosanne Perron, Pam Poulin and husband Gilles, Glenda Halverson and husband Garry, Kelvin Kaus and wife Anita, and Brian Kaus and wife Janet.
Also surviving are 14 great-grandchildren, Marcie Beaudoin, Jason Kaus, Jerry Poulin, Ian Venne, Justin Kaus, Andrea Venne, Gaetan Poulin, Roxanne Beaudoin, Kailley Kaus, Justin Venne, Ashley Kaus, Carly Kaus, Brittany Kaus, and Cody Kaus; and three great-great-grandchildren, Anthony Beaudoin, Allyson Beaudoin and Tre Kaus.
A visitation was held Friday, Sept. 8, 2000 at the Rainy River Funeral Home from 3-9 p.m.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000 at the Knox United Church at 2 p.m., with Rev. Pat White officiating.
Interment followed on Monday, Sept. 11, 2000 at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Rainy River at 10 a.m.
Pallbearers were Gary Halverson, Glen Kaus, Miles Venne, Randy Oleksiw, Kelvin Kaus, and Brian Kaus.
Honourary pallbearers were Donnie Marchuk, Terry Cooper, Tony Havorka, Harry Burns, Chipper Bourre, Harry Arnould, and Manny Nordin.
