It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of “Dad, Gramp, Pa,” Gilbert Henry Tucker, 77, of Fort Frances, Ont., on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000 at La Verendrye General Hospital.
Gib was born Dec. 22, 1922 to the late Jane and George Tucker. He married Lillian Sinclair on Dec. 20, 1946.
Gib spent his life at Ash Bay with Lillian at his side, where he commercial fished and together they raised their family. Ash Bay is where the family home will always be and where the door was always open.
Dad was a very special man, and always welcomed our friends and made our home their home. Dad was a very special man and was always there for anyone who needed a helping hand or a word of encouragement. He had a special gift that he always knew if there was something wrong and was always there to listen or lean on.
He passed onto all his children and grandchildren a great love for the lake and the outdoors.
Gib was predeceased by his parents, Jane and George Tucker; brothers, Ronald and Horace; and grandson, Michael James Tucker.
Gib is survived by his wife, Lillian; three sons, Gib Jr. and wife, Kathy, Brian and Lynn, and Jake; daughter, Ann Marie Howells and husband, Karl; and grandchildren, Bill (Sandra and Jon), Gib, A.J. Charlie (Tracy), Anita, and Heidi.
Also surviving are two sisters, Loretta (Karl) Lipinski and Elsie Taylor; two brothers, George and Raymond (Carol); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Honourary pallbearers will be his grandchildren whom dad was so proud of.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Nelson, who took such wonderful care of Gib, and to his “special nurse,” Dianne Lipinski.
In honour of his wishes, a celebration of his life will take place at Ash Bay on Friday, Sept. 8, 2000 at 2 p.m.
In memoriam donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 655, Fort Frances, Ont., P9A 3M9.
