Geraldine May Skinner passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont. after a brief illness, in the company of beloved family and friends.
She was born July 1, 1925.
Geraldine was the devoted wife of Dr. Harry Skinner, and mother of Steven (Allison) and grandmother of Frances Mackenzie.
She was predeceased by her husband and two sons, Robert Fredrick and David Harrison Skinner.
A kind and cultured woman, Geraldine’s life was significantly marked by her love of music, opera, ballet, and the arts. When raising her three boys, she was a participant in several local choirs and the choir director at St. John’s Anglican Church.
One of number of influential women, Geraldine helped to promote the cross-border concert series between Fort Frances and International Falls in the 1970s.
She also was an avid curler and someone who enjoyed the peacefulness of Rainy Lake, cherishing the memories of special times at the cabin on Hostess Island with family and friends.
A memorial service in celebration of Geraldine’s life will take place this summer at Green’s Funeral Home in Fort Frances.
In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations to the Nature Conservancy of Canada would be gratefully accepted.
