Georgina Plichta was called suddenly by God on October 20, 2025, though she bravely endured many illnesses for years and was prepared for this day.
Georgina, our mom, was born on October 30, 1943, in La Lima, Honduras.
She was the eldest daughter of Gregoria Trochez and Horacio Ortez.

Mom is survived by her sons Tony, Louie and Fredy; her grandchildren Vincent, Andrew, Tyler, Vanessa, Jeremi, Cassia; Johnny’s kids Tricia, Ninnette and Gordon; sisters-in-law Dorothy and Ann (Larry) and her siblings Olga, Consuelo, Gregoria, Miguel, Jesus, Edgardo, Horacio, Waleska, Ninoska, Raquel, Corina, Omar and Hector; her special aunt Tia Emilia; and many special people in her life including Veronica, Jo-Anne, Pat, Wilma; her long-time neighbour and friend Walter; and her honorary grandchildren Kyle, Kira, Emma and Jordan.
Georgina was predeceased by her husband Johnny; mother Gregoria; brothers Roberto, Emilio, Luis and Rolando; many aunts and uncles; her adoptive mother in Canada Mrs. Wilson from Red Lake; and her best friend Norma.
Georgina was born in Honduras and immigrated to Canada to provide her boys a better life. She worked for many years at the LaVerendrye Hospital in various departments, retiring in 2008 to care for and spend more time with her Johnny, her dogs and her family.
Georgina’s greatest strength was her unconditional love. She loved and sacrificed for her three boys, always worried about them, hurt when they hurt and bragged about their accomplishments. She loved her husband Johnny with all her heart and was the proudest grandmother. Nana loved frogs, flowers and her four-legged companions, not necessarily in that order. She made the best desserts, always baked “your favourites,” crafted and sewed precious things for all. Nana Georgina never forgot a special event or a birthday. We will really miss those calls, sometimes one day ahead to be sure she didn’t miss it; some cards even arriving after her passing.
A celebration of life is planned for July 1, one of her favourite days of the year as it was the day she arrived in Canada in 1970 with her three sons and a promise of a better life. That you did! Gracias por todo Madrecita. Te queremos mucho.
Donations in memory can be made to a charity of your choice.
Rest in peace Georgina, Mom, alongside your Johnny in God’s hand.
Arrangements entrusted to Northridge Funeral Home Ltd., Emo, Ontario.
