Georgina Merle (Jean) Jankiewicz, 81, of Alberton Township, Ont., passed away Monday, Nov. 24, 2008 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
Jean was born May 26, 1927 in Fort Frances and had lived most of her life in the area.
She was a “jack of all trades,” and had been a jewellery salesman, potter, and a painter. She was very active in the arts and crafts community, organizing events and craft sales along with her friends, Midge Johnson and Peter Spuzak, and many other local contractors.
In her younger years, she enjoyed crocheting and knitting.
Georgina is survived by her children, Richard of B.C., Augustine of Calgary, Alta., Tommy (Charlene) of Las Vegas, Nev, John and Muriel Smith, both of Fort Frances.
Also surviving are several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, Florian; parents, Frederick Charles Crowe and Ida Margaret Rounds; step-father, Tom Skrudland; and two brothers-in-law.
A celebration of Jean’s life will be held Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008 at 7 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with Mr. Peter Spuzak officiating.
