George William Jordan, 86, of Rainycrest Home for the Aged, Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Sunday, April 11, 1999 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.
George was born Feb. 18, 1913 in Fort Frances to the late Paul and Mary Jourdain. He attended residential school in Fort Frances, and began working in a local sawmill as well as guiding for local tourist camps.
Following a serious accident, he moved to Alberta and later to British Columbia. While out west, he worked as a truck driver and other various jobs. He returned to Fort Frances in 1982.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and sharing stories with family and friends.
He was predeceased by six sisters, Martha Calder, Veronica Allen, Flora McDonald, Mary Mainville, Rosanna Bosneau, and Adel Johnson; and four brothers, Isaac, Pat, Paul, and William Jourdain.
George is survived by his wife, Signey Jordan of Fort Frances, Ont.; four sons, Laverne Jordan and wife, Gail, of Vancouver, B.C., Keith Jordan and wife, Dianne, of Fort McMurray, B.C., George Jordan and wife, Delores, and Lance Jordan, all of Fort Frances, Ont.; six grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 15, 1999 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church at Couchiching First Nation, Ont. Fr. Ed Kosa O.M.I. will officiate, with interment in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery at Couchiching.
A wake will be held Wednesday evening at Couchiching First Nation Bingo Hall at Couchiching. Parish prayers will be offered at 7:30 p.m.
