Wilbert Bolen 94, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at Rainycrest Home for the Aged in Fort Frances, Ont. with his family by his side.
Wilbert was born Jan. 13, 1913 in Chapple Township, Ont. to the late William and Margaret (nee Lougheed) Bolen. He was raised on the family farm in Shenston Township, Ont. and attended the country school there.
As a young man, Wilbert worked for Ontario Hydro and with his brothers “logging.” He purchased his own farm and spent the rest of his working years tending to the farm and raising cattle—something he took great pride in.
Fondly remembered by his family and friends as a quiet, good-natured man. He had a smile and hello for everyone.
Wilbert enjoyed good health for many years. He valued and appreciated his family and kept contact with those dearest to him. Wilbert retired in Emo, Ont., enjoying outings to the restaurant for coffee (socializing), and took up curling with the seniors there.
He spent his entire life in Rainy River District.
Wilbert is survived by his sisters-in-law, Jean Bolen and Marjorie Bolen; and brother-in-law, Edward Atkinson. He also is survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Russell and David Bolen; and sisters, Mary ( Jesse) Georgeson, Clara (Glen) Malick, and Allene Atkinson.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 31, 2007 at 3:30 p.m. from the Northridge Funeral Home in Emo, with Rev. Barbara Miller officiating.
Interment will take place in Barwick Cemetery in Chapple Township at a later date.
