GEORGE TREMBLAY

It is with deepest sorrow that the family announces the passing of George Tremblay, husband, father, grandfather, and friend of many.
George passed peacefully in his sleep on Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, after a brief battle with cancer, at the age of 81.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elsie; children, Debra and David (Jane); and grandchildren, Meghan, Emily and Scott.
He also is survived by his brother, Leo (Rose); sister, Doris; brother, Bill (Sandy); sister, Denise (John); and numerous nieces and nephews.
George was born in St. Boniface, Man. in 1929 and moved to Fort Frances, Ont. at the age of 13. In 1969, George received his Stationery Engineering Certificate and moved his family to Hawkesbury, Ont. to pursue his new career at Duplate of Canada.
George’s passion was hockey and baseball, where he spent a good portion of his free time as a coach.
During retirement, George and Elsie travelled extensively across Canada, spent time with their grandchildren, and wintered in Lake Havasu, Nev.
In his last 10 years of retirement, George resided with his daughter in Mississauga, Ont., and from May to September enjoyed life at the “cottage” at Spring Valley Park in Mount Forest, Ont.
His generosity and commitment to his family will never be forgotten by his family and his many friends.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011 at 1 pm at St. John Baptist Anglican Church, 719 Dundas St. E., Mississauga, Ont.
