Sadly the family announces the passing of George Spencer, 87, of Seine River First Nations, on October 26, 2022, at LaVerendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
George worked as a logger in his early years. He also worked as a carpenter for many years alongside his younger brother (Steve Spencer). He continued to work hard and build things long after he retired.
He loved to hunt and fish and be out on the land. He competed in the Fort Frances Canadian Bass championship for many years with his son-in-law Tom Johnson.
Bass fishing was one of his most favourite activities to do.
He is survived by his wife Agnes; his children Barbara Spencer, Walden (Gloria) Spencer, Cecilia (Tom) Johnson, Norma Spencer, Roger (Shannon) Spencer; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; brother Steve (Susan) Spencer, Dave Spencer; and sister-in-law Virginia Kabatay.
He was predeceased by his parents Jack and Rose Spencer; siblings Hilda Yerxa, Robert Spencer, Rose Spencer and Margaret Spencer.
Traditional wake was held on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at the family home followed by a Traditional service held on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at the family home.
Interment will be in Seine River First Nations.
